@schnorrer

Vieleicht erfährst du ja noch was...

Doch.

Was ist denn so in etwa?????

Hello to all ;),

So I was told to go and check out www.radioszene.de and much to my surprise I found that people were talking about me...
With much speculation of course... So I thought it might be good to speak for myself...
And here is the short version (what happened?)...

Things have never been easy for me at SWR3, but I always managed to get through all of the obstacles. Near the end my battles became tougher and tougher. And my battles have always been with the Music Department, not the Programming Department. In fact it is fair to say that I had a great relationship with Gerold Hug, he's a great guy who literally brought me in, after just meeting me for 30 minutes. And for that I will be forever grateful...

But the music department (as far as I was concerned) has always been a group of idiots who did not have a clue, and they had ego's the size of a mountain. And I could really not understand why. They were, and are old men who don't even listen, or live the music they play (lifestyle)... I have a real problem with that, respectfully speaking... When speaking radio formatics/formula with these people they did not have a clue... And please keep in mind I am/was a radio Programmer/Consultant, then DJ...If you want to talk radio formula, come prepared or I will eat you alive (sorry, but true)...

Finally I hate people who do not have passion for what they do, and that was the case there...
Nobody can/could explain why they do what they do...So my question is...Why do it???
Musically speaking...

And Dance Night was designed to be a Saturday Night Party, not some show for old men who like Rock, or don't have a rhythmic clue... And know that I like Rock, but not when I want to party...
Give me hits, and some flow/vibe :)))
They did not get that... Too bad for all of us...
The listeners (audience) were great...

I read that someone said that I did not follow the music list.
Not true, and first understand that "Dance Night" was totally my concept... I spent more than 150 hours creating the concept for that show. So as crazy as it sounded (On-air), it was very well organized... And I did follow the music, but the fight was over which version of the songs that we should play, and the music department did not, and still does not get it... So to anyone reading this, try fighting with several people
(an entire music department) for months, it wears you down... Speaking totally from a creative side... And it is just not worth it...
I was always honest with them, which is more that I can say for them...They literally hated me and hoped that I would fail... Did not happen ;)and then they were really pissed, and nasty to me (always)... No respect, and/or they were dis-honest...

As for my sudden departure. I was polite enough to give Gerold (Hug) an advance notice, out of respect...But he chose not to answer... Why? I still do not know... But I would suspect that he thought that we would get through another battle and I would adhere to them (Music department.
But as far as I was concerned they were hi-jacking my concept and where I wanted to go, and they had fair warning.
And after several months, perhaps Gerold underestimated me, my will and determination... I am not your run of the mill DJ, and know that I have paid my dues in this business... And you can match that with anyone in the business, anywhere...and that is not an ego trip... Radio is about formula/formatics, knowledge. And he who has it, wins...

So yes it is sad, but that is business...
That is why it is called Show Business...

So there you have the short version. I thank you all for your interest, and yes I will resurface again, and hopefully soon. I am currently looking for another radio job, and my mother is fine (thanks again for your concern)… And yes she is the main reason that I am here, just to keep an eye on her… If anyone wishes to reach me, and I have nothing better to do during these times. You can reach me at the following address
Barrygroup11@hotmail.com

And finally, I am not bitter, and hopefully this email does not come off like that... All is well... And I really do think that SWR3 is a great radio station, with great people...
But my problem was totally creative, and with the music department... And know that I will find a station that gets it, and that has something to offer... Until then!!!

Best Regards

BJ Barry
