AW: STL-Frequenzen Deutschland?

So yesterday it was the end of our tournament and the project WK FM.
Everybody thanks for your reports ! We had no time to drive around the city to find out how the reception was, therefor your reports where helpful and nice to hear.Although it was busy on FM with stations in Germany ,the results where beyond our expectations.
If you are interested,i will place some photo's later.
I have to look for some hosting,so let me now.

WK FM

Ok give me some time to find a photohost and upload,we have around 300 photo's made. I will pick out some technical ones for the freaks.:D

Many thanks for posting these pictures!

By the way, some colleagues expected a transmission at Berlin to take place, so to speak ...

AW: STL-Frequenzen Deutschland?

Yes we hoped so too,but since Holland is out of the tournament the transmissions stopped a bit earlier (we would loved to go on till Berlin...:D )

AW: STL-Frequenzen Deutschland?

Please excuse my question... I have just read through this topic due to the pics I've seen.
Could somebody please be so kind to explain to me the reason of all this and the story behind the fact that stations (?) or other third party institutions from abroad may use FM frequencies in Germany? I cannot remember that Germans were allowd to use frequencies in other countries, but maybe someone can explain this.

@Magisches Auge:

@ Gelb

The dutch national broadcaster NOS Radio 1 just ha the idea to setup local transmitters in Germany during the world championships football and the "bundesnetzagentur" did not have any problems with it and gave permission/licenses to them. Of course there where additional costs for licenses, locations, equipment etc.
You are right that it was never done before, specially not by "foreign" broadcasters. This was a unique project, for us and for Germany too...;)
However,i did understand that it is possible for any German to setup a temporary FM station during an event.

The idea itself is so simple that it's strange nobody else came up that idea earlier...;)

AW: WK FM

Well, Bundesnetzagentur is responsible only for the frequency coordination here. But more interesting is the position of the media authorities who are responsible for broadcasting regulation. Most of them kept a very low profile on this matter, I think only Saxonia's SLM publicized their decision to permit the NOS station at all (http://www.slm-online.de/psk/slm/slm_content/powerslave,id,679,nodeid,11.html). So far the media authorities used to make more fuss about licencing such special events station I think.

K6: I think you are right, not much autorities announced it. Also, not in Holland.
But since there are more stations in Holland who could have the same idea, thats why we don't mind that they kept it low profile..;)
However, the cooperation with everybody in Germany (including autorities)was very helpful and enthusiastic.
But i think this was a pilot project and therefor we had a special position.
Still, like i said before, the idea to make radio for the fans locally is so simple, why did nobody came up with the same idea earlier?

I understand that on June 21 the FFH group broadcast at Frankfurt a special program, partly in Dutch, on 97.1 and 105.4 MHz (the same in English on June 10).

Speaking about foreign broadcasters: The UK-based Talksport was on DAB during England's matches, but only with their regular program, nothing locally produced. And only on DAB, no attempts to use FM frequencies from their side.

AW: STL-Frequenzen Deutschland?

Yes, there was also a cooperation with FFH in Frankfurt and PSR in Leipzig. They also gave the local transmissions some more attention.

AW: STL-Frequenzen Deutschland?

Makes me wonder why there was no cooperation with Hessischer Rundfunk and Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, respectively, since they are EBU partners of NOS if I'm not terribly wrong.

AW: STL-Frequenzen Deutschland?

I don't know K6 i was only responsible for the technical part (transmitter sites) But what i do know is that these stations contacted the NOS before this event took place.
