RTL Radio Deutschland plans to restructure struggling stations
14 May 2003
RTL Radio Deutschland is planning to restructure its associated stations in
eastern Germany. The advertising slump resulting from the struggling German
economy has hit stations in the Saxony-Anhalt region particularly hard. RTL
Radio Deutschland has asked the regional authorities to grant it permission
to acquire outstanding shares in 16 stations. The company fears that at
least one station - Hit Radio Brocken - could go bankrupt if permission is
not granted. RTL Radio Deutschland has a daily audience of 25 million
listeners over the age of 14.
